Suresh is a dual major in science and business whose iPad helped change his approach to learning. Find out how he incorporates curiosity and creativity into his process.
Samuel Suresh
Studying Science and Business,
Western Sydney University, class of 2022
“iPad puts me in control of my learning. It helps me discover that learning isn’t just a fixed process. It is malleable and adaptable — a reflection of the way my mind is thinking.”
While you may not be able to tell by looking at his notes and study guides, Samuel Suresh used to hate studying. But once he began to infuse curiosity and creativity into his process, Suresh discovered that iPad was the perfect tool to help him evolve from simply studying to truly learning.
“iPad allows you to try things you’ve never done before, to make mistakes and magically rectify them with the tap of a finger. That changes everything!”
The versatility of iPad supports Suresh’s varied learning style. He multitasks across apps with Split View, uses Apple Pencil to create notes with detailed diagrams, and relies on apps like GoodNotes 5 to bring it all together in beautiful personalised study guides that help crystallise what he’s learning.
“iPad empowers you to own your learning. To take the knowledge you're studying — whether it be from textbooks, videos or lectures — and make it your own. It’s made me fall in love with the process of breaking down what I’m learning and building it up again in the visual notes I create.”
Suresh believes iPad helps him embrace curiosity and creativity in his learning process, taking control of his education and breaking free from linear textbooks and classroom walls.
“Curiosity is a chaotic, erratic process that goes all over the place. It doesn’t fit the traditional classroom. To students who are curious but feel limited by the process of ‘studying’, iPad unlocks their minds to a process where they can truly learn and express their creativity.”

See how Secondary Education and Arts student Hannah uses Apple technology to be her most creative self — as an artist and future teacher.
Hannah Pengilly
Studying Secondary Education and Arts
University of Canberra, Australia, class of 2024
“With iPad and Mac, it’s so easy
to bring my lessons and creative
ideas to life.”
Hannah Pengilly is working on a double degree, studying both of her passions — art and education. She dreams of being an educator and is already pursuing a career as a digital artist, with work that is loved by millions on TikTok. Growing up home schooled, Hannah found that hands-on, personalised learning was the best way to support learners like herself — something she aims to bring into her own classroom in the future.
Hannah’s passionate about helping others express themselves creatively and learn in ways that work best for them. Apple technology helps her do that. With iPad, iPhone and Mac, Hannah makes and shares her art with the world, brings innovation to her practice as a student-teacher, and elevates her schoolwork.
“I love designing with iPad and Apple Pencil. It pushes me to experiment and create in whole new ways at the highest level. I can create anything that I dream up.”
iPad and Apple Pencil have been part of Hannah’s artistic toolbox for many years. With these tools, Hannah creates original drawings and animations using ProCreate. “It’s the ideal canvas for drawing and experimenting with different techniques,” she says. For Hannah, Apple Pencil becomes a paintbrush with unlimited potential to play with colour and texture. She shares her process with her 4M social media followers to spark imagination and encourage others to express themselves creatively.
Hannah easily combines her love of art with her student-teaching studies. On iPad with Apple Pencil, she designs student worksheets with multimedia content to appeal to different learning styles. For her assignments, she visually represents ideas by taking photos on iPhone and creating sketches on iPad, then uses AirDrop to send them to her Mac for editing. Her personalised digital workflows help her to develop content that inspires students to learn and teachers to teach.
Hannah's mission is to make an impact in the lives of others — whether it’s through sharing her artistic practice, or creating lesson plans that make learning more inclusive. With iPad, Mac and iPhone, she delivers on that promise.
“I want to use all of my skills and creativity to set students up for success, no matter how they learn,” she says. “I’m driven by helping people, doing good in the world and living an extraordinary life.”
See how Bim, a fourth-year visual arts student, is using iPad Pro with Apple Pencil to bring her dynamic ideas to life.
Apichaya ‘Bim’ Wannakit
Studying Fine Art
Silpakorn University, Thailand, class of 2024
“Digital art with iPad and Apple Pencil has helped to expand my creative thinking.”
Apichaya ‘Bim’ Wannakit is starting her fourth year in painting, sculpture and graphic art at Silpakorn University in Bangkok, in the heart of the modern Thai art scene. Growing up in Northeast Thailand’s creative community in Ubon Ratchatani, Bim developed her passion for art at a young age.
She took inspiration from anime like “Dragon Ball Z” cartoons she saw on television and the Manga comic books she collected. She put years of hands-on practice into her illustrations using brushes, watercolours and oil paints. In high school, she discovered even more ways to express herself and expand her creative palette when she started using iPad with Apple Pencil.
“I quickly adapted to the precision and flexibility of digital painting using Apple Pencil,” Bim says. “It brought my entire art kit into one magical tool, without sacrificing the natural feel of traditional mediums. It allows me a new way to bring my ideas to life.”
When it was time to get ready for university, Bim used iPad to bring her art portfolio together, capturing and storing all her mixed media digitally in iCloud. Bim says, “I initially chose Apple technology because of its cloud service for file management and simple-to-learn design interface — iPad has made my life easier.”
Today she uses Procreate on iPad with Apple Pencil for all her creative workflows. Features such as QuickShape and StreamLine with Apple Pencil enable her to quickly add layers, outlines, colours and shadows in an immersive and playful way. “My love for traditional painting and digital art brings me a new sense of balance. My Apple devices help to make this possible from anywhere.”
iPad also supports her daily academic work. Bim uses Apple Pencil with GoodNotes for note-taking, and Microsoft Word on iPad for creating art descriptions. “In class, I use iPad Pro to present my work,” Bim says. “And the 12.9-inch screen is large enough for my professor to view my art comfortably.”
With the ultimate goal of becoming a professional artist, she promotes her artwork at local art galleries and on social media. And in preparation for her senior public showcase, Bim is planning a mixed-media series exploring visualising people’s dreams.
“Through my art, I want to tell a story that inspires others and creates a space for experimental ideas.”

Turn ideas into apps with Swift.
Swift is a coding language that’s easy to learn and used by developers everywhere. And no matter your level, Apple has resources to help you advance your coding skills.
See how self-taught app developer and Mathematics student Zoey is using Swift and Apple technology to honour her Vietnamese heritage.
Nguyen “Zoey” Vu
Studying Mathematics
University of Waterloo, Canada, class of 2024
“I use Swift because it’s the industry standard — it’s also easy and accessible, even for students.”
At 17, Zoey Vu found herself in a new country, learning a new language and working various part-time jobs. Ontario, Canada was a lot different than her hometown of Tân Phú in rural Vietnam. But the change in scenery allowed for new opportunities. In her first month in Canada, Zoey attended a robotics conference — and it was there that her fascination with technology and app development sparked.
Zoey’s dream of helping her family and community back home is at the core of everything she does. And as she dove into the world of creating apps, she discovered a path that could help her realise it. One of the major keys to Zoey’s journey in tech? Apple. Through the Develop in Swift books and the Swift online community, Zoey taught herself how to code.
“Apple is the industry standard for developers,” says Zoey. “At the same time, the tools Apple creates for developers make it really easy for students like me to learn. Swift is the most intuitive, smooth and easy-to-use platform in the industry. And there are so many resources available to help you create any app you can dream up.”
Dreaming up amazing apps is exactly what Zoey did. Inspiration struck her in maths class, while learning about the Flocking Algorithm – a computational model inspired by behaviours observed in nature.
“I was missing home so much, and I would remember how my brother and I would sit together and look out at the sunset and watch the birds flocking back to their homes.”
And with that, Birds of a Feather was born — an app she created using Xcode on Mac that simulates the flocking algorithm of birds and encourages children to learn through play. It won Zoey a Swift Student Challenge award in 2023 — an inspiring experience that led her to new connections in the iOS community.
With several internships at major tech companies under her belt, Zoey remains focused on paying it forward as her budding career takes off. Using her iPhone and Mac — with Calendar, Notes and iCloud to keep her busy life organised — she leads a mentorship program that helps Vietnamese computer science students in Canada and the US find internships and scholarships in the app development industry. And she still has big plans for those back in Tân Phú.
“My dream is to build an app that will help improve the lives of the people in my hometown. It could be something that helps the workers be safer, or an app that connects people to jobs or educational opportunities. Some way to help my family and community — that’s what I'm trying to do.”
