With Apple Pay, just hold the top of your iPhone or Apple Watch near the Octopus reader to use. There’s no need to unlock your device or open an app. Moreover, you’ll continue to earn reward points at participating merchants. And even if your device automatically shuts down due to low battery, you can still use Octopus.1
There are many ways to add funds to Octopus. Top up using your favorite credit or debit/ATM card without service fees anytime, anywhere using the Wallet app on your iPhone or Apple Watch.2 And just like your physical card, you can still add funds at the usual places with cash, or reload value with Octopus’ Automatic Add Value Services (AAVS).
Wondering if you have enough to pay for your ride? Forgot what you spent? Not a problem. Keep track of your transaction history and balance, so you don't have to remember it all.
Upgrade to the latest version of iOS or watchOS to get started. Then follow the instructions to transfer your current Adult or Elder Octopus card, or add a new card.2
Apple respects your privacy. With your Octopus card on your iPhone, you can check your transactions and balance at any time. Apple doesn’t store transaction information that can be tied to you.
Using Octopus with Apple Pay isn't just more convenient than your physical card - it's safer, too. If your iPhone or Apple Watch is ever lost or stolen, you can use the Find My app to quickly put your iPhone or Apple Watch in Lost Mode and suspend Apple Pay. You can also remove your cards remotely on iCloud.com.3 And when upgrading to a new iPhone or Apple Watch, you can continue using Octopus in the Wallet app by transferring to the new device.
